Montana Statewide Junk Car Buyers

Across Montana, our vehicle buying service is available in every region of the state, from communities along the Yellowstone River to areas near the Rocky Mountains. We purchase used and junk vehicles statewide, and we arrange pickup at the seller’s location whether that is in a city, a small town, or a rural area. Distance within the state does not limit where we operate. Our coverage extends across eastern plains, western valleys, mountain communities, and remote roads where vehicle pickup still needs to happen. No matter where a vehicle is located in Montana, we can reach it and handle pickup there.

3 Easy Steps for Selling Your Car in Montana

Our process is straightforward:

  • Getting an instant offer

Call us to request an instant offer for your vehicle. We ask for basic details over the phone, such as the make, model, year, condition, and whether it runs. Based on that information, we provide a fast offer with no obligation to sell.

  • Scheduling pickup and free towing

Once you accept the offer, we schedule pickup at a time that works for you anywhere in Montana. We provide free towing, and we can collect the vehicle from your home, your workplace, a roadside location, or a repair facility. Our service covers the entire state, including urban, rural, and remote areas.

  • Receiving payment at pickup

We complete payment when we pick up the vehicle. After the vehicle is collected, we finalize the transaction and provide payment at that time.

Buying Used, Unwanted, or Non-Running Cars

At Auto City Salvage, we buy vehicles in any condition from sellers across Montana because people part with cars, trucks, vans, and SUVs for all kinds of everyday reasons. Some have an older vehicle that still sits in the yard or driveway even though it has not been part of daily life for a long time. Others have reached a point where the car no longer feels dependable enough for work, school, or family travel, and they are ready to let it go rather than keep dealing with the stress. In many cases, a vehicle that once fit well simply does not suit the owner anymore after a move, a change in job, a growing family, or a shift to a different routine. We also hear from people who have inherited a vehicle they do not need, owners who have an extra car taking up space, and sellers who are done paying attention to something they no longer drive. Some vehicles are non running, some show years of wear, and some have damage from an accident or rough use, but just as often the main issue is that the owner has moved on and wants the vehicle out of their life. There are people who kept meaning to fix it up and never got around to it. Another seller has already replaced it and sees no reason to keep the old one sitting. For some, it is simply time to clear space and stop looking at a vehicle that brings more burden than value. We understand that every car has a story, even when it is worn out, unused, or no longer wanted, and we work with sellers throughout Montana who are ready to sell without making the process harder than it needs to be.

From Trucks to Sedans: Montana Vehicles We Purchase

At Auto City Salvage, we buy a wide range of vehicles for cash throughout Montana. That includes the kinds of vehicles people rely on every day for personal use, family travel, job related driving, and practical hauling. We purchase compact cars and sedans, along with coupes, hatchbacks, and convertibles that serve as daily transportation. We also buy many larger passenger vehicles, including SUVs, crossovers, station wagons, and minivans that people use for errands, commuting, and regular household needs.

We also purchase vehicles built around work and utility. Pickup trucks are a common part of what we buy, and so are vans used for tools, deliveries, or general cargo. Some people come to us with a family SUV, while others have a small car for routine driving or a wagon that offers extra space without moving into a larger vehicle class. Across Montana, we buy personal vehicles, family vehicles, work vehicles, and utility vehicles in many shapes and sizes, including both common body styles and more specific types people use in everyday life.

We purchase a broad mix of vehicle categories across the state.

What Determines Junk Car Value in Montana

The value of a junk car in Montana depends on the vehicle itself and the market at the time of sale. A newer vehicle with usable parts often brings a stronger offer than an older car with heavy damage or missing components. In some cases, a larger vehicle is worth more because it has more metal by weight, but demand for its parts also plays a role. Scrap prices shift over time, so the same car can be worth more or less depending on current metal values. The overall condition matters as well, since a complete vehicle with major parts still in place usually has more value than one that has been stripped or has severe wear. Auto City Salvage buys junk cars, used vehicles, and damaged cars for cash across Montana.

To find out what your vehicle is worth, request an offer based on its condition, age, type, and current market factors.

How to Apply for a Duplicate Montana Title

In Montana, the registered owner, legal owner, or lienholder can apply for a duplicate vehicle title if the original title is lost, stolen, or damaged. The applicant must complete the state duplicate title application, provide the vehicle information and owner details exactly as they appear on record, and pay the required fee. If there is a lien on the vehicle, the lienholder’s information must be included. The application is filed through the county treasurer’s motor vehicle office in the county where the owner lives.

Complete an Application for Replacement Certificate of Title. Enter the vehicle year, make, model, VIN, and the owner information exactly as it appears in Montana records. If the title was damaged, attach the damaged title.

Submit the completed application to your county treasurer’s motor vehicle office and pay the duplicate title fee. Include any required lien information. Bring identification if the office asks for it.

The county office processes the request and issues the duplicate title through Montana Motor Vehicle Division records. Once the duplicate title is issued, use it to transfer ownership when you sell the vehicle.

How to Sign a Vehicle Title in Montana

Signing over a Montana vehicle title usually means the seller completes the ownership section on the title, records the sale details, and gives the signed title to the buyer so the buyer can apply for a new title and registration. Both sides should review the title carefully before signing. Write clearly, use full legal names, and make sure all required spaces are completed exactly as they appear on the document.

  • Check the front and back of the Montana title and confirm it is the correct title for the vehicle. Verify the vehicle identification number, year, make, and current owner names. If more than one seller is listed, each owner named on the title signs as required by the way the names appear.
  • Complete the seller section of the title. Enter the buyer’s full name and address, the sale date, and the odometer reading if the title includes an odometer disclosure area. The seller signs in the designated seller signature line, and the buyer signs where the title asks for a buyer signature. Use the names exactly as printed or required on the title form.
  • Give the buyer the signed title and any other required transfer documents, and keep a record of the sale for your files. The buyer then takes the signed title and supporting paperwork to the county office to apply for title transfer and registration in their name.

Do not erase, cross out, or write outside the marked spaces on the title. If a mistake is made, it is best to address it before the vehicle is handed over so the transfer is not delayed.
