New York Statewide Junk Car Buyers

From the Hudson Valley to the far western counties, our vehicle buying service is available across New York. We purchase cars, trucks, vans, and SUVs anywhere in the state and arrange pickup at the seller’s location. That includes dense city neighborhoods, small towns, rural roads, and outlying areas. We also cover communities near the Hudson River as well as places farther north and west.

Coverage extends from Long Island to the North Country, with pickup available wherever the vehicle is located. If a seller is near the Adirondack Mountains or in another part of the state, we can reach that location and remove the vehicle there. Our service is not limited to a few metro areas or main corridors. We work statewide and handle pickup across the full length and width of New York.

We Buy Vehicles in Any Condition

Auto City Salvage buys vehicles from owners across New York in all kinds of situations. Some people have an extra car that no longer gets driven after a move, a retirement, or a change in daily routine. Others are dealing with a vehicle that has grown unreliable over time, and they no longer want to keep putting time or money into it. We also hear from families whose needs have changed, from drivers who have replaced an older car, and from owners who are ready to let go of something that has been sitting in a driveway, garage, or parking area for months. In many cases, the vehicle still has value even if it is worn, non running, or has visible damage.

We work with sellers who simply want to clear space and move on from a car they no longer use. Sometimes the vehicle belonged to a relative, or it was kept longer than planned and now feels like one more thing to deal with. A person may have stopped using it after buying another vehicle, or the car no longer fits their budget, schedule, or everyday life. We buy cars, trucks, vans, and SUVs in a wide range of conditions, including vehicles that are older, damaged, or no longer road ready. Our process serves sellers across New York who want a direct way to sell a vehicle that no longer has a place in their routine.

How Junk Car Prices Are Calculated in New York

Junk car values in New York vary from one vehicle to the next.

A newer vehicle with usable parts usually brings more than an older car that is badly worn or stripped. Condition matters at every level, from crash damage and missing components to whether the engine, transmission, and electronics still have value. Scrap prices also shape the offer, since buyers look at what the metal is worth at the time. In some cases, demand for parts raises the price when a model has components that sell well. Weight plays a role too, because heavier vehicles contain more metal and often return more as scrap. The type of vehicle matters as well, since a small sedan, an SUV, and a pickup do not hold value in the same way.

Replacing a Lost or Damaged Vehicle Title in New York

In New York, the owner listed on the current DMV record must request a duplicate title if the original title is lost. A duplicate title is available only for vehicles that already have a New York title in the owner’s name. The owner must complete the Application for Duplicate Title, provide the required identifying information for the vehicle and owner, and pay the duplicate title fee. If there is a lien on the vehicle, the duplicate title is generally sent to the lienholder. If the owner’s name has changed or the vehicle was never titled in the owner’s name, a different DMV process is required instead of a duplicate title request.

  1. Complete form MV 902, the Application for Duplicate Title. Enter the vehicle identification number, year, make, and the owner information exactly as it appears on DMV records. If the owner’s name has changed, follow the DMV title correction or update process before requesting the duplicate title.
  2. Submit the application and payment to the New York DMV. Mail the completed MV 902 with the duplicate title fee to the address listed on the form, or submit it through a DMV office if that option is available for your situation. Include any required proof of identity or supporting documents if the form instructions call for them.
  3. Wait for the DMV to issue and mail the duplicate title. The DMV sends the new title to the owner on record, or to the lienholder if a lien is still recorded. Once received, the duplicate title can be signed over to the buyer when the vehicle is sold.

How to Correctly Complete a Title Transfer in New York

Signing over a New York vehicle title when selling a car means the seller completes the title assignment and the buyer takes the signed title to apply for a new title and registration. Both sides should review the title before writing anything. Use full legal names, write clearly, and match the information on the title and bill of sale.

  • Step 1: Check the front and back of the title before signing. Confirm the vehicle identification number, year, make, and owner names are correct. If there is a lien listed, make sure it has been properly released before the sale. Do not erase, cross out, or use correction fluid on the title.
  • Step 2: Complete the seller section on the back of the title. The seller signs exactly as the name appears on the front of the title. If more than one owner is listed, each required owner signs. Enter the sale date and purchase price where the title asks for it. Record the odometer reading if the title includes an odometer section and the vehicle requires it.
  • Step 3: Have the buyer complete the buyer section with their full legal name and signature if required on the title. Give the buyer the signed title and a bill of sale. Keep your plates unless New York instructions for the specific transaction say otherwise, and remove your registration and insurance from the vehicle after the sale.
